Target lets its egg suppliers cram hens in tiny cages.

Life is horrible for the hens laying eggs for Target. They are trapped inside tiny wire cages and suffer from injuries and mental anguish every single day. Keeping hens in cages is so controversial and inhumane that it is illegal in many states and all of Europe. Not even McDonald’s will use eggs from caged animals. Target claims to hold itself to the “highest ethical standards.” How is this ethical?

Target lets its egg suppliers dispose of baby male chicks.

You read that right. In Target’s egg supply chain, male chicks are discarded in the most brutal way: they are tossed into a meat grinder. They can’t lay eggs, so they are useless to Target’s bottom line. Only a short time after their birth, they face a gruesome death. Technology exists to prevent this cruelty.
Does Target care? It doesn’t seem so.
